FORMER ABIA COMMISSIONER ARRESTED AND ARRAIGNED FOR STEALING.

A former commissioner in Abia State Mr. Arukwe Chima has been arrested and arraigned on multiple charges, including stealing and forcible entry. The accused was brought before the Magistrate Court, Umuahia North Judiciary Division, on a five-count charge.

The charges include but are not limited to:

1. Forcible entry, an offence punishable under Section 517A of the Criminal Code Cap C38, Laws of the Federation, 2024.
2. Committing felony and stealing potatoes valued at ₦1,876,000, an offence punishable under Sections 390(9) and 516A(1) of the Criminal Code Cap C38
3. Engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace by unlawfully preventing tenants from accessing their farms, an offence punishable under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code.

The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by the Nworisara family, accusing the former Commissioner of trespassing into an estate owned by the Nworisara Anasonye Family Head. Following due legal processes, he was taken into custody and subsequently arraigned in court.

The legal proceedings are ongoing as the judiciary seeks to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law in Abia State. More details will be provided as the case develops.
