LAGOS, NIGERIA — Popular On-Air Personality Chinedu Ani, known professionally as Nedu Naija or just Nedu, has announced his departure from The Honest Bunch Podcast following allegations of using his influence to demand sexual favours from women seeking movie roles.
The controversy erupted after social media activist Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, accused Nedu of exploiting female content creator Jojo in exchange for roles.
The accusation surfaced amid an ongoing online feud between VeryDarkMan and stand-up comedian Deeone, who had earlier claimed during an episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast to have evidence suggesting that VeryDarkMan is gay.
A furious VeryDarkMan retaliated by threatening to expose a list of celebrities who, he alleged, had slept with Nedu for career advancement.
Jojo, however, denied the allegations, stating emphatically that she had never had any form of relationship with Nedu beyond professional interactions.
Following the backlash, Nedu released a statement on Thursday, February 13, 2025, confirming his exit from the podcast, citing the toll of public scrutiny and the need to protect his peace of mind and family.
“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me. Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey – one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics,” he said.
“But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll.”
“In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself.”
He further stated that while he remains committed to open dialogue and meaningful engagement, he hopes his decision will put an end to the negativity surrounding his name and allow The Honest Bunch Podcast to thrive without controversy.
Nedu’s exit has sparked diverse reactions across social media, with some supporting his decision, while others have questioned the circumstances surrounding his resignation.
Meanwhile, industry insiders have speculated on whether his departure is permanent or temporary, and what impact it might have on the future of The Honest Bunch Podcast.
For now, neither VeryDarkMan nor Deeone has commented further on the situation, but the controversy continues to generate discussions in Nigeria’s entertainment circles.
