Thursday, 10th October 2024 was a remarkable day for Abia literary society, as the public presentation of the three books ” TYRANNY OF THE WEAK, TEENAGE WISH & ODIUKO – THE MOTHER AFRICA NEEDS” respectively saturated the airwaves amid birthday celebration of the Author.
The book launch of the debut works of a renowned politician and public policy Consultant Chief Dr. Okey Ezeala attracted captains of industry, government Functionaries, and politicians across party lines, had the State Governor Dr. Alex Oti as special guest of honour.
The Governor, ably represented by the Hon. Commissioner for petroleum resources Prof. Joel Ogbonna expressed the State desire to partner sound professionals like the author in realizing the educational policy of the state, describing Dr. Ezeala as a rare breed in this generation with many more to offer Abia State, Nigeria, and the global community.
The books which seeks to address present day challenges, and question existing statusquos will serve as; a teenage parenting manual for the digital era, with special focus on the expectations of an average teenager in a dynamic and ever busy world of parenthood; a profound reflection of the African spirit, one that calls for resilience, independence, and the courage to shape our destiny, the Odiuko Spirit and lastly a powerful and thought-provoking journey through the societal norms and perceptions.
The occasion, held at the prestigious Sun-Heaven Hotel & towers Umuahia, was chaired by Hon. Justice Anya Benson, who stood in for the Chief Judge of Abia State, while erudite Professor of Law, Barr. Hagler Okorie (PhD) reviewed the books alongside the State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development.
The famous Philanthropist Chief Iheanyi Frank Chilasa (Dogo Bende) was the Chief Launcher alongside the State Assembly Member representing Bende South Chief Emmanuel Ndubuisi (Ijiriji Bende) among others.
Other notable speakers in the book launch include the Special Adviser to Gov. Oti on Policy and interventions Rev. Father Anokwuru, ex CPS to Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, Pastor Ralph Egbu, State Chairman of Reality Organization Worldwide Barr. Peter Ndukwe, and traditional rulers led by the Chairman, Bende Council of traditional rulers HRM Eze Uchendu Okorie (JP).
