Mohbad: Don’t Be a Sacrificial Lamb for Anyone – Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola Warns

Popular Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has advised her fans not to become sacrificial lambs for anyone, regardless of their relationship or ties.

In a reflective Instagram story on Thursday, Opeyemi shared her thoughts on the first anniversary of the late musician Mohbad’s death, offering life lessons she’s learned from the case.

“It’s been a year since Mohbad passed, and so much has happened and continues to unfold,” she wrote. “One key takeaway is that the pursuit of wealth at the expense of your conscience isn’t worth it. The love of money and fear of powerful influences can turn even your closest loved ones against you. Survival instincts often trump love, loyalty, and friendship.”

She warned against being exploited for others’ benefit: “Poverty will always be a tool in the hands of the wealthy. Don’t position yourself as a sacrificial lamb for anyone, whether it’s for your family, siblings, or parents—because that sacrifice might be dragged through the mud.”

Mohbad, whose mysterious death occurred on September 12, 2023, sparked widespread calls for justice. His body was exhumed for an autopsy at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on September 21, 2023. However, in June 2024, the pathologist revealed that the autopsy couldn’t determine the cause of his death. In response, Mohbad’s family has since requested an independent autopsy.
