Taylor Swift has addressed the recent threat that led to the cancellation of her Eras Tour shows in Vienna.

In her first comments since the incident, the superstar expressed her reaction to the thwarted attack and her decision to remain silent about it.

On August 21, Swift described the cancellation of the Vienna shows as devastating and expressed her concern over the reason behind it. She revealed her feelings of fear and guilt, acknowledging that many fans had been eagerly anticipating the concerts. However, she also expressed gratitude towards the authorities for their intervention, emphasizing that they prevented a tragedy.

Swift explained her prolonged silence by saying she wanted to avoid causing additional alarm. She clarified that her decision to hold back public comments was intended to prevent further risks to her fans. “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she stated.

The thwarted attack involved three teenage suspects allegedly plotting an ISIS-style bombing at one of Swift’s Austrian concerts. Swift commended her fans for their support and noted that her team worked closely with stadium and British authorities to ensure safety as her tour continued.

“The energy needed to protect nearly half a million people coming to my London shows was my focus,” she added.

The Vienna shows, scheduled for August 8-10, were canceled at the last minute. Swift’s European tour concluded with a performance at Wembley Stadium in England on August 19.
