Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has released and granted seventeen inmates serving terms at Nigerian correctional centers in Ondo state pardon to mark this years independence celebration.
Thd Attorney-General of the state and Chairman of State Advisory Council on Prerogative of mercy, stated that the inmates received the grace and mercy of the governor based on their good conduct.
He noted that they were recommended for release by the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
The Governor charged the released inmates to be of good conduct and live a better life free from crime.
Seventeen other inmates serving various other sentences had their sentencing commuted and reduced by the powers of the governor.
The governor who exercised his constitutional power as enshrined in paragraphs (a) (c) and (d) Subsection (1) of Section 212 of the Constitution of Federal Republic Nigeria 1999(As amended) has given the released inmates a new chance at life.
