Obituary: Dr. Adeniyi Olusegun Ojutiku (1952 – 2021)

Ex-Igbobian, Veterinary Doctor, Ex-Professor at St. Augustine University and Phoenix University USA, Pastor and Social and Political Activist,passed unto glory  in Raleigh North, Carolina USA on Saturday 9thJanuary 2021.

The death has been announced of Professor Dr. Adeniyi Olusegun Ojutiku a renowned social/ political activist, prolific writer, the founder and promoter of Lift Up Foundation USA and a respected public intellectual. According to family sources, he died on Saturday, January 9, 2021 after a protracted period of illness. He was born on November19, 1952, in Lagos, where he grew up and schooled.

Dr Adeniyi Ojuitku attended Igbobi College, Lagos where he was a House Prefect for Oluwole House and participated effectively in Sports:  Athletics, Soccer, Cricket and Table tennis as well as Literary/Debating programmes. He obtained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degreefrom Nigeria’s Premier University – University of Ibadanand was also a member of The Royal Society of Health London. He worked for some years with Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development & Water Resources in Lagos and Bauchi in Nigeria, before proceeding for further studies at the Tuskegee University Alabama and North Carolina State University, USA.He taught as professor at Saint Augustine’s University in North Carolina and later at Phoenix University in North Carolina until he retired from teaching in 2014.He spent the rest of his life on social actions advocating for the less privileged in the Nigerian society through his Lift Up foundation.

The late Dr. Adeniyi O.Ojutiku wasalso a consultant at the American Congress on Nigeria’s religious discrimination affairs. Hisorganisation, Lift Up Foundation along with other diaspora groups in the US facilitated several Congressional conferences, seminars and consultation meetings in Washingtonbringing severalChristian leaders from Nigeria to Washington for interactive meeting.

Dr. Adeniyi O. Ojutiku was married to his bosom childhood friend and love of his life, Mrs Elizabeth Teniola Ojutiku for 40 years.They have three blessed children: Oludolapo, Adebiyi and Oluyemi;and siblings including Dr. Kayode Ojutiku, a medical Doctor of Long Island USA, Mrs DeunBalogun , a retired senior civil servant of  Lagos State,Mr Folu Ojutiku and Mrs Derin Soname, both retired Permanent Secretaries of Ministry of Education, Lagos State, Dr.Yinka Ayandele, a serving Permanent Secretary in Lagos State and Pastor Mrs Arin Olugbola, an educationist and Co-Pastor  of Grace Chapel for all Nations London , along with other family members.

  1. A Night of Tributes Service on Saturday,30th January 2021 at 5.00 pm Nigeria Time , 11.00 amUSA – North Carolina(EST) and4.00 pm(London, UK (GMT)
