Two brave hunters in Adamawa State succeeded in gunning down two Boko Haram commanders during a stand-off after insurgents attacked Bakin Dutse and Gadamayo villages in Madagali council area of the state.
Reports say the insurgents attacked the council area in search of food and medical supplies forcing residents to flee into the bush, but their mission failed after they were warded off by the brave hunters.
Speaking after the Boko Haram commanders were killed, spokesman of the hunters in Madagali, Ali Hammajabu, said: “at about 11p.m., our hunters successfully averted a massive raid on villages of Bitu, Gadamayo and Bakin Dutsi.
“The terrorists, who were on their way to attack selected communities, were ambushed on receiving intelligence report of the terrorists’ intention. We engaged them and in the process, two Boko Haram members, in military camouflage were killed.
“We found two AK-47 rifles and Police teargas cannisters, which we handed over to soldiers in Madagali.”
Following the gunning down of the Boko Haram commanders, there was wild jubilation in the area with the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Ahmed Sajoh, informing newsmen that the feat recorded by the hunters will be rewarded by the state government.
