Cost of International Passport set to Rise as NIS Laments Increase in Price of Materials

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) may increase the cost of acquiring Nigerian International Passport, a statement made by Muhammad Babandede, Comptroller-General of the NIS suggests.

Babandede said that the review is necessary as the cost of materials for production of the booklets has increased.

Babandede was speaking at the flagging off ceremony for the capacity building programme on Information Communication Technology, ICT, for Immigration officers, organized in conjunction with Huawei Technologies Company, in Abuja.

“It is not easy for us to pay for booklets because of the cost. You will agree with me that air tickets have doubled in this country. You are aware that a lot of things have changed, but the passport fees have not changed,” Babandede said.
